Margaret Berg

Margaret Ann Fletcher Berg, age 79, passed away surrounded by loving family at her home in Hudson, Wisconsin on December 20, 2021. She had courageously fought a long, hard battle against the ravages of cancer.

Margaret Ann was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Margaret and Gene Fletcher on July 6, 1942.  She was the oldest of four children born to that union.  Margaret Ann graduated from the Air Force Dependents High School of Misawa, Japan. She then graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. She taught art in the public schools of Minnesota for ten years. Subsequent relocation due to Steve’s transfer to Illinois gave her the opportunity to explore art of different forms.  Her hobbies grew as well as her knowledge of a variety of needlework and horticulture.  She added floral designer to her repertoire.  She loved making all things beautiful.

Her hobbies included all forms of needlework, floral arranging, and for some time, exercise at the Y.  She enjoyed extensive travels to foreign countries where she had many adventures with her dear friend from high school.

Marge, as she was called by many, and Steve were blessed when Guy came into their family. It has been a joy to have a son grow into the man that he is.  He and his wife Tracy have dedicated their lives to their daughter, Riley Ann.

Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her parents; sister Lila Jean; and brother James. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Steven E. Berg; son, Guy N. (Tracy) Berg; granddaughter, Riley Ann; sister Katy (Don) Vanderhoef; sisters-in-law, Jean Radke, and Mary (Alan) Berg; brother-in-law, Dave Denew; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Her wit and wisdom, devotion to family, and cherished friendships will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A memorial service to honor Margaret’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Memorial Lutheran Church in Afton, MN.  Visitation to take place one hour prior. Burial will take place same day at Memorial Lutheran Church Cemetery.
