Marian E. Kimberly

Marian Kimberly age 90 of Baldwin died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Birchwood Assisted Living in Baldwin. Marian was born on March 11, 1924 in Eau Galle Township; the daughter of Ole and Lida (Thompson) Solstad. She attended Hoover Country School prior to graduating from the Baldwin High School in the class of 41’. Earlier in life, she played piano and sang in the church choir. After high school, she waitressed for Bark’s Bakery in Baldwin. On August 29, 1943, she was united in marriage to Maurice W. Kimberly at North Rush River Lutheran Church, rural Baldwin. This union would be blessed with two sons, Bill and Mike. Together, they farmed along with Maurice’s parents; Ned and Emma. Following farming, which she thoroughly enjoyed, they operated M & M Cafe and General Store in Woodville. She has been a life long member of North Rush River Peace Lutheran Church. Her vocal abilities gave her rewarding opportunities to sing at many weddings and church events. Although she was a dedicated homemaker, wife & mom, she also took pride in her jobs outside the home. She helped maintain the salads at the coachman, and worked assembly lines at Fabri Tec, McMillan’s, and Smead Manufacturing over her lifetime. Marian was an avid card player; especially 500. She also took great pleasure in polka dancing and socializing with her family and friends. She was an excellent cook/baker who always looked forward to making Norwegian goodies like Lefsa, Krumkakes, and rosettes.

Marian is survived by her sons Bill (Carol) Kimberly of Bloomington, Mike (Becky) Kimberly of Hudson; grandchildren Erin (Josh) Reynolds, Jeremy Penman, Josh (Danyel) Penman, Jesse (Kelli) Penman, Ashley (Brian) Tucci; great grandchildren Alexander Reynolds, Markell Penman, Brody Penman, Alivia Penman, Luke Penman, Luca Tucci, Kannon Penman; and her sister Audrey (Gordy) Thompson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Maurice, infant grandson Christopher, sister Kathryn Hamilton.

Funeral service for Marian will be 1:00PM, Monday December 1st at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Pastor John Hanson to officiate. Burial will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin and one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to the Baldwin Care Center, who gave her the utmost care, or the donor’s choice. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.
