Marilyn A. Vanderpoel

Marilyn A. Vanderpoel, age 82 of Baldwin, WI, died on the morning of September 15, 2016 at the Baldwin Care Center. Marilyn was born on June 19, 1934 in Stillwater, MN to Albert and Irene (nee Johnson) Pabst. She grew up in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, and attended Stillwater High School before moving with her family to Roberts, Wisconsin, where she would graduate from Roberts High School with the Class of 1952.

In 1953, she met Bernard Vanderpoel at the Hammond Roller Skating Rink. The two dated for a year and were then united in marriage on May 1, 1954 at the Woodside Church in Baldwin. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters; Janet, Sue and Nancy, as well as two generations of grandchildren, and over 58 years of love and devotion to each other. Her beloved Bernie would preceded her in death on January 24, 2013.

Marilyn worked side by side with Bernie on their dairy farm near Clayton. Over the years, Marilyn found work at various different places, but above all, she was a devoted farm wife to Bernie, and a loving mother to her children. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, needle point, crossword puzzles, and word find. They would later move to Hammond, WI and then again to Baldwin in 1998, where they remained close to family and friends. In retirement, Marilyn devoted herself to the Baldwin Senior Center, serving as both a volunteer, and as a board member. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Janet (Dennis) Chilson, Sue Graunke, and Nancy (Dave) Jacobson; six grandchildren, Jeff (Brenda) Chilson, Brian Chilson, Kevin Chilson, Jill (Ryan) Amundson, Kyle Jacobson and Korey Jacobson; five great-grandchildren, Bradley, Garrett, Sammie, Brandon and Waylon; brother, Richard (Ann) Pabst; sisters-in-law, Doris “Jeanie” Hanson, Marge Pabst, and Valoris Vanderpoel; brother-in-law, Butch Vanderpoel; as well as other relatives and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Vanderpoel; her parents, Albert and Irene Pabst; son-in-law, LaMoine Graunke; and brother, Roland Pabst.
