Marilyn Bradley, a beloved educator, musician, and community member, passed away on February 9, 2025, in Hudson, Wisconsin. Born on October 29, 1932, in Sodus, New York, to parents Clarence and Blanche Roesser, Marilyn’s life was a testament to her deep commitment to education, music, and her family.

She graduated from Williamson High School in New York and went on to attend Eastman School of Music where Marilyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree and dedicated her career to teaching, imparting knowledge and inspiration to countless students at schools in Milwaukee and Brockport, New York.

Her love of music led her to roles as choir director at the First Baptist Church and the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson, where she shared her passion and talents with her community. Notably, Marilyn founded the Phipps Oratorial Society and served as the director of music at the Phipps Center for the Arts, enriching the cultural landscape of the region.

An avid reader with a particular fascination for history, Marilyn’s home was filled with books, and she took immense pride in keeping it immaculate. She shared a deep bond with her husband, Merlin, a pastor, supporting him in his vocation and finding joy in their shared chores and travels. Marilyn was a talented pianist, an accomplished quilter, and a valued member of the P.E.O. sisterhood, where she fostered friendships and supported education for women.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Bradley. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Merlin; son Mark; and parents Clarence and Blanche.

A memorial service for Marilyn will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. If you are unable to attend her service it will be livestreamed HERE.

  1. Marilyn was my cousin and a woman I admired for many reasons – her musical talents, her intelligence, her creativity, her delicious cooking and her gentle demeanor. Marilyn was several years older than I am, but my husband, Brian, and I connected with Marilyn and Merlin in later years and shared many meaningful experiences with them. There were great in-depth discussions and some trips to special locations both in Hudson and in Rochester, NY, where we live. I will miss Marilyn greatly, as she was the last close connection for my brothers and me to our dad’s side of the family, but I will always remember the good times. My heart is with you, Carolyn, and with all who were lucky to know Marilyn and call her friend.
