Marjorie Ruth Meier, 89, of River Falls, WI, passed away at the Kinnic Health and Rehab on May 1, 2016. She was born March 18, 1927 in Auglaize County, Ohio to Herman and Anna (Nolte) Opperman. She attended school in New Knoxville and left early to tend to her ailing mother. She married Junior Meier on August 28, 1949 and they moved to Prescott, WI where they farmed for over 60 years.
Family was Marjorie’s greatest love and brought her the most joy in life. Holidays were very special gatherings and she enjoyed baking for family. She also loved following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s school activities. Summer brought the chance to go to the cabin and fish with her husband and family. She played cards with them and played mini golf. She also enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, jigsaw puzzles and word finds, and reading. She was a sports fan; especially enjoying the Minnesota Twins and the Green Bay Packers.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Vernon Opperman, Dorothy Jung, Robert Opperman, Ed Opperman, Myron Opperman and Fred Opperman.
Marjorie is survived by her sons, Dave (Jeanne) and Dan (Michelle) of River Falls, WI; daughters, Deb(Andy) Tobias of Prescott, WI, Denise (Dan) Donnelly of Holmen, WI, and Diane (Dan) McDonald of Mayer, MN; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, her special twin brother, Marvin Opperman of St. Mary’s OH, and many other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank Adoray Hospice (especially her nurse, Mary Ellen) for all the love, encouragement and kindness shown to her this past year.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7, Prescott United Church of Christ, Prescott, WI. Visitation will be prior to the funeral at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls, WI.
