Mark Jeffrey Thompson, age 66 of Baldwin died peacefully Saturday April 14, 2012 at his residence. Mark was born on June 17, 1945 in Baldwin; the son of Iver and Gena (Hugdahl) Thompson. Although Mark was born with Downs Syndrome; this did not stop him from enjoying life and putting smiles on those around him. Mark was a character with his own sense of humor. He loved to give the ‘blond’ healthcare aids a hard time and support his favorite WWE wrestler; Hulk Hogan. Earlier in life, it gave him the greatest pleasure reading to his nieces and nephews as they were growing up. Mark was an avid participant in the Special Olympics. He also was very fond of bowling, listening to country music, and taking time from his vacuuming job when he worked at Wal-Mart to chat with others.

Mark made a difference in the lives of his brothers Douglas Thompson of Baldwin, George (Arlene) Thompson of Tigard,Oregon, Bruce (Diane) Thompson of Nekoosa, WI, Gordon (Audrey) Thompson of Baldwin, Ralph (Lori) Thompson of Baldwin, Gerald (Shelda) Thompson of Baldwin, Steven (Kay) Thompson of River Falls, sisters Jean Swenby of St. Charles, IL, Eileen Duvall of Menlo Park, CA, Linda Mulheron of River Falls, brothers/sisters-in-law Lois Thompson, Doris Thompson, Dorothy Thompson, Luverne Schmidt, and many nieces and nephews. Mark joins his parents Iver and Gena (Hugdahl) Thompson, brothers Stanley, Malcolm, Donald, and sister Kathleen Schmidt; also sisters-in-law Betty Thompson, Judy Thompson, and brothers-in-law Vearl Swenby and Norman Duvall.

Funeral celebration of life will be 11AM Wednesday April 18 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin with Pastor Keith Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Pine Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at O’Connell’s on Wednesday morning.

Memorials are preferred to Adoray Hospice.
