Marlene Hintz, at 70 years young, passed unexpectedly in her home the morning of July 5th, 2023.
She was born on February 6, 1953 to parents Verlin and Margaret Gaetz and grew up in Wausau, WI. Marlene spent many summers travelling to the family ranch in Montana, spending days riding horses and enjoying nature. She attended Wausau East High School and graduated with the class of 1971. Marlene married John Hintz in her home town on April 20, 1974 and they were happily married for nearly 50 years. Together they were blessed with two children. In 1983 they purchased 10 acres in Hudson, WI and built a beautiful home together where they could live amongst nature, gardening, building a barn and fence for the horses they would have, and giving their children a place to build wonderful memories. In her last few years their dedication and love strengthened as she was having issues with her health.
Marlene was a kind, loving, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and it brought her so much joy to spend time with those she loved. She was passionate about caring for all things. Her family, horses, the cats she took in and nursed to health, the beautiful flowers she planted. Her love showed in everything she did.
She enjoyed attending 4-H events, horse shows, baking delicious and beautiful cakes, making and decorating holiday cookies with her kids and grandkids. It was her absolute joy to experience these moments with her grandchildren. Marlene was a devout Christian and also shared her love of God with those she loved. She was a cowgirl at heart and like a true cowgirl was also a hard worker even when she wasn’t feeling her best, she carried on. She had a love for the old west and enjoyed old western movies. One of her favorite memories was a trip she took to Kanab Utah to attend a High Chaparral reunion where she got to meet some of her favorite stars.
Marlene will remain in the hearts of her husband John; daughter Stacy (Patrick) McNeil; son David (Ann) Hintz; grandchildren Keira McNeil and Ivree Hintz; siblings Mark Gaetz and Pam Bacon, as well as many other relatives and friends. Marlene was such a beautiful soul and was a blessing to anyone she met.
