Marlin Edward Torseth

Marlin E. Torseth, 85, of Hager City, Wisc. died on Saturday, May 13, at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.
Marlin was born in Red Wing, Minn. on Sept. 1, 1931 to Eddie and Gertrude (Johnson) Torseth and returned to their farm in Bay City, Wisc.
He graduated from Red Wing High School with the class of 1949.
Marlin married his wife, Janice Kind, on November 5, 1953 and they started dairy farming. He had numerous other jobs along the way – working at a packing house, a mechanic at Cenex, working on the new “35” road construction, owner of Svea Store & Flowers, groundskeeper at Pierce County Fairgrounds, and market gardening. Marlin was a 4-H leader for 28 years, 16 as general leader. He loved umpiring 4-H softball games. He and his wife also enjoyed sponsoring girls slow-pitch teams and played on Ellsworth and River Falls Coed teams.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lowell and wife Elaine, twin brother Merlin; granddaughter, Mallory Goral; and brother-in law, Robert Kind and wife Lois, and brother-in-law, Don Kind.
Survived by his wife and partner in life for 63 years, Janice; daughter, Wendy Torseth-Masel and grandchildren, Logan, Wyatt and Celia; daughter, Linda (Kent) Orwoll and granddaughter, Caroline; daughter, Susan (Gary) Goral and grandchildren, Sara (Drew) Mahlik, Jennifer, Hanna and Alex; and son, Peter (Traci) and grandchildren, Autumn and Isaac Lien; and upcoming great-grandchild, Mahlik; many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and family, in-laws Peter (Sandi) Kind, Bill (Connie) Kind, Joe (Pat) Kind, Maureen Kind and Darlene Hagen.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, at Svea Lutheran Church in rural Hager City with Rev. Dean A. Lundgren officiating. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at Svea Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to the family.
