Marlys Jean Veenendall, age 83 of River Falls, passed away January 2, 2018 at the Kinnic Health & Rehab in River Falls. Marlys was born March 8, 1934 in River Falls, the daughter of John Robert and Mary Irene (Kelly) Tyler. She graduated from River Falls High School, the Class of 1952. Marlys was united in marriage to John M. Veenendall on February 7, 1959 in River Falls. Their marriage was blessed with 2 daughters, Nancy and Sandra. Marlys and John shared 45 years together, until his death in 2004. Marlys was a loving and compassionate mother to her daughters, always providing an open ear and gracious heart. Marlys worked in Accounts Receivable and the Cashier’s Office at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls for about 20 years.
In her younger years, Marlys was an avid bowler, and enjoyed her time in a bowling league. She delighted in playing cards, especially euchre. She was a proud Auxiliary member of the River Falls American Legion. Marlys had a fun loving spirit and a great sense of humor. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends, and treasured her travels to California to visit her granddaughters.
Marlys will remain in the hearts of her daughters, Nancy Veenendall of St. Paul and Sandra (Jeff) Holman of Lancaster, CA; granddaughters, Morgan and Mariah Holman; brother, James (Sandee) Tyler of Chippewa Falls, WI; nieces, Pamela Tyler and Patrice Anderson; as well as other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brother, Jack Tyler; and nephew, Guy Tyler.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St., River Falls, with Fr. Gerald Harris officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Interment will take place at St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers assisting with the services will be: Jim Killian, Jay Killian, Mike Nicholson, Beth Nicholson, Rick Nicholson, Jon Killian, and Guy Jensen.
