Marshall W. Blok

Marshall Wayne “Marsh” Blok, age 76 of Baldwin, passed away on May 11, 2017 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Marsh was born January 13, 1941 in Baldwin, to parents James and Esther (Doornink) Blok. He grew up in Hammond, and graduated from Hammond High School, class of 1959. Marsh attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL and earned an Associates Degree in TV and Radio Communications. On November 21, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sharon Wubbels. Their marriage would be blessed with three children. Marsh worked for several companies including Fabri-Tek, Trane Company, Tonka Electronics and Heebink Architectural Woodwork. Marsh was also the owner of Blok Associates, a sales company for the circuit board industry.

Marsh loved spending time outside and doing yard work. He enjoyed socializing with friends and his non-judgmental attitude had the ability to make anyone he met feel welcomed. His smile would brighten up any room, and he was always willing to listen and offer words of encouragement.

Marsh will remain in the heart of his wife of 54 years, Sharon; children, Brian (Karen) Blok of Hammond, Bruce (Lisa Wahl Hollern) Blok of New Richmond, Michele (Gerald) Kerber of Greenfield, IN, daughter-in-heart, Sherryl (Mike) Frederick; grandchildren, Raquel Blok (Anthony VanSomeren), Brendon Blok, Karisa (Josh) Ramage, Kohler Kerber, Joe (Jackie) Sahnow, Jennifer (Josh) Eads, grandchildren-at-heart, Johnathan (Tyanna) Frederick and Jason Frederick; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah and Beka Eads and Jaxon Sahnow; siblings, Bernice (Bernard) Lewis of Baldwin, Marvin (Cheryl) Blok of Baldwin, Elaine Quinn of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Ginny (Rich) Lindus of New Richmond; sister-in-law, Bev Wubbels of Baldwin; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Johnny (Marlys) Blok; nephews, Matthew and Jeff Blok; parents-in-law, Harley and Dorothy Wubbels; brothers-in-law, Larry Wubbels and Rich Quinn.

A memorial services for Marsh will take place at 11:00 AM Monday, May 15, 2017 at the First Reformed Church, 1120 Eleventh Ave., Baldwin. A visitation will take place from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 14, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Interment will take place at the Baldwin Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.
