Mary Ann Ofstie

Mary Ann Ofstie age 77 of Spring Valley died suddenly July 15, 2018 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Mary Ann was born on August 7, 1940 in Red Wing, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Everett and Marion Reynolds, whom later was divorced and remarried to Donald Thom. She was raised on a farm near Ellsworth where she graduated from high school in 1958. A year after graduation, she married Dale Nelson; to this union two sons were born: Jeff and Steve. They were divorced later. At an old-time ballroom dance in Bay City, she would meet a young gentleman with whom she would fall in love with. On November 24, 1967, she was united in marriage to Schuyler Ofstie in Watertown, South Dakota. The couple has made her home in Spring Valley their entire married life.  Mary Ann and the Sky enjoyed their annual trips to Arizona or across the United States. One of their most memorable trips was to the Wisconsin Dells in an old converted school bus made into a RV. When they were able, they always enjoying old-time music and dancing.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband Sky; son Darin (Kim) Ofstie; grandchildren Tyler Palmer, Luke Nelson, Amber Nelson, Connor Ofstie, Keegan Ofstie, and her half brother Gary (Pamela) Thom. She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Donald Thom; and sons Jeffrey (Pamela) and Steve.

A memorial Service for Mary Ann will be 6pm Thursday July 26th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at O’Connell’s. Interment at a later date will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
