She was raised in St. Paul attended St. Michael’s Parochial School prior to graduating from Humboldt High School. Mary Ann was an independent woman who wasn’t afraid to tackle anything. In 1954, she was one of very few women who enlisted in the Armed Forces. From 1954 to 1956, she proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War! Semper fidelis, literally meaning ‘Always Faithful’. And that she was, a devoted marine who cherished her country till the day she died. While in the Marines, she would meet and later marry Richard L. Stanley. Together, they had two children, Richard and Denise.   For over 20 years, she worked in bill collections for Associated Bureau in the Twin Cities. In the mid 1990’s, Mary Ann made Hudson her home. She loved living in the St. Croix Valley.   She enjoyed a challenging crossword puzzle or getting into a good mystery novel. She was always game to cheer on her beloved Minnesota Twins. Later in life with the encouragement from family, she delved into Facebook. Beginning with a few posts here and there to becoming the family’s social media guru; she loved keeping up with family on Facebook. For Mary Ann, nothing was more important than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they meant the world to her!
