In Memory of Mary E. Marquardt

This lovely, sweet, gentle, kind lady passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at Woodland Hill in Hudson, WI.

She bravely fought a long battle with leiomyosarcoma.  Her family was at her bedside to say a tearful goodbye to this adored lady.

Mary was born in Minneapolis to Paul and Margaret Lindell on July 8, 1943.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1961.  She later began her career as a legal secretary.  Mary adored her family and spending time with each of them.  Her radiant smile would always shine around her many friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Stephen.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Leigh Marquardt; son Mark Conrad; daughters Kirby Hirschey (Philip) and Whitney Helget (David); grandchildren Lauren Colyer, Stefanie Franklin (Paul), Blake, Reid and Weston Hirschey.  Also survived by sisters Louise Orest and Beth Johansson.

Special thanks to her caregivers at Lakeview Hospice and Woodland Hill.

She will be laid to rest in the Marquardt plot in Riverside Cemetery, Wabasha, MN.

You do not die as long as you are remembered.  She will never be forgotten.  Do not cry because Mary is gone, smile because Mary happened.

A Memorial Service and Reception will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Georgetown Lutheran Church, 877 190th Ave., Balsam Lake, WI 54810. Mary’s service will be livestreamed HERE as seating in the church is limited. Memorials donations can be sent to Georgetown Lutheran Church (P.O. Box 86, Balsam Lake)

    • I have only known Mary for a short time. I immediately fell in love with her and feel our relationship was mutual because this is how Mary made you feel. She made everyone her best friend! I didn’t get to see her often because I live in Texas but I thought of her almost every day. She was my sunshine when the sun wasn’t shinning. Bless the soul of Mary. She definitely was my angel on earth.

My sympathy to Leigh and family. God blessings to all.
