Mary E. Redner, age 81, of Hudson, WI died Monday September 25, 2023 at Christian Community Home in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Mary was born on February 6, 1942 in Glen Ellyn, Illinois; the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Spellman) Higby.
As a young child, her family moved a few times throughout her life, living in Glen Ellyn, Escanaba, MI, before settling in Wauwatosa, WI. It was there she met the boy across the street, Thomas Redner. They became high school sweethearts and married on June 27, 1964. They were blessed with two children, Leanne and Robert.
Mary enjoyed her time living in Germany while her husband served in the Army. Some of these memories carried with her throughout her life and she often looked back fondly upon that time. After returning to the United States, Mary was a homemaker for many years until she became an administrative assistant, working for a few organizations throughout Hudson. During this time, she also supported Tom with his active involvement in City government and the St. Croix EMS. She loved to read and to knit, and for many years used her talent to make mittens for the local churches that could then be donated to shelters. During this past year, she very much appreciated the opportunity to have her hair and nails done and looked forward to those engagements.
She remains in the hearts of her daughter Leanne (John) Van Allen; daughter-in-law Leslie Redner; and grandchildren, Morgan and Lily Van Allen, Daniel and Abby Redner.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Higby; husband Thomas Redner; and son Robert “Bob” Redner.
A visitation for Mary will be held 5:00-7:00pm, with a closing prayer led by Rev. Larry Szyman, Monday, October 2, 2023, at O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI.
The family would like to thank the medical and care providers that supported Mary throughout the past year. In particular, the care and comfort she received from the Christian Community Home and Adoray Home Health and Hospice. Memorials are suggested to Adoray Home Health and Hospice.
Funeral services entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
