Mary Elizabeth Senkus

Mary Elizabeth Senkus, age 66 of Hudson, WI, passed away on October 23, 2014 surrounded by her family.  Mary Elizabeth (Mulligan) Senkus was born November 28, 1947 to Edward Francis and Julienne (Gervais) Mulligan of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1965 and College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN with a BS degree in chemistry in 1969. She was employed as a scientist at 3M where she met Raymond Senkus and they were married April 17, 1971. After graduating from William Mitchell College of Law in 1983, she practiced law with Oppenheimer, Wolff and Donnelly in Minneapolis for 26 years.  She was a member of the Washington County Board of Adjustment and Appeals for 18 years as well as a member of the City of Hudson Board of Adjustment and Appeals and the St. Croix Sailing School Board of Directors. Mary and Ray were avid sailors for many years.

Surviving Mary are her siblings: Gerald (Marian) Mulligan of Cave Creek, AZ, Maureen Mulligan of Albuquerque, NM, Terri (Dave) Reiland of Durand, WI, John (Mary Dee) Mulligan of Hong Kong and Edward (Betty Bekemeier) Mulligan of Seattle, WA. She also leaves nine nieces and nephews: Cristin Mulligan of Las Vegas, NV, Kelly Mulligan of Bloomington, MN, Kathleen (Zachary) Longsdorf of Eden Prairie, MN, Lisa (Eric) Arkowski of Eau Claire, WI, Matthew Reiland of Rochester, MN, Liana Reiland of Eau Claire, WI, Andrew (Roxann) Mulligan of Longmont, CO, Ean Mulligan of New York, NY, Erin Mulligan of Hong Kong; and one great-nephew, Joshua Arkowski of Eau Claire, WI.

Preceding her in death are her spouse, Raymond Senkus; her parents, Edward and Julienne (Gervais) Mulligan; and her brother, Joseph Mulligan.

A gathering of family and friends will take place 4:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, and one hour prior to Mass on Monday at church.  Mass will take place 11:00 AM Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson.  Memorials are preferred to the St. Croix Sailing School Scholarship Fund, PO Box 732, Hudson, WI 54016, and the Poverello Foundation, Mayo Clinic, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
