Mary Ellen Brooks

Mary Ellen Brooks, age 79, passed away on Saturday July 13, 2024 in Hudson, Wisconsin. Mary Ellen was a proud Georgia Peach, born on May 21, 1945 in Macon, Georgia, the daughter of Lawrence and Ellen Brown. She was married to Robert “Bob” Brooks for over 45 years and they had three children, Kim, Kathryn and Doug, and two beloved labs, Scarlett and Allie. Mary Ellen was a loving and dedicated mom and wife and fully embraced her favorite title of “Grandma”. Everyone who met Mary Ellen instantly loved her and the word “sweet” was always used when someone would talk about her. She always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh. She never met a stranger and loved engaging with people and always had a kind word.

Mary Ellen is survived by her daughters Kim Weikel (Bill) and Kathryn Getty (Aric), her grandchildren Ryan, Lauren, Matthew (Kim) and Grace (Kathryn), sister-in-law Susan Durrett, nephews Win Brown and Stephen Brown and niece Meg Compere. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by, her husband, Bob Brooks, her son, Doug Brooks, her son-in-law, Rick Weikel, her brother, Winston Brown and her parents.

A celebration of Mary Ellen’s life will be held August 1, 2024 from 4-6 pm at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Worthington, Ohio. In remembrance of Mary Ellen’s life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
