Mary Jane Ries, age 71 of Hudson died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis. Mary Jane was born on September 26, 1947 in Mitchell, South Dakota; the daughter of Melvin and Zola Fredericksen. She was raised in White Lake where she graduated from high school. On September 1, 1967, she was united in marriage to Gerald Ries at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in White Lake. This union would be further blessed with two sons; Darin and Bryan. Mary Jane enjoyed being a devoted wife, mom, and especially a grandma. It gave her the greatest smile attending her grandchildren’s school events, but more importantly spoiling them! Mary Jane worked 23 years as a health aide for the White Bear School District prior to retiring in 2000. Working here created many friendships that she held dear to her heart to this day. Furthermore, Gerry and Mary Jane formed many friendships from his work while they lived in White Bear and attended St. Pius X Catholic Church.  She always looked forward to reminiscing with all of them.

Mary Jane will forever live on in the hearts of her best friend and husband Gerry; sons Darin (Mary) Ries, Bryan Ries; grandchildren Mason and Makena; siblings Melva Dean Mayclin, Larry (Janice) Fredericksen, Bonna (Ralph) McGregor, Pamela Fredericksen; brothers/sisters-in-law Darlene Peta, Carol (Dale) Backes, Kenneth Ries, Eugene Ries, and her nieces and nephews. Her parents; parents-in-law William and Hilda Ries, brothers/sisters-in-law Tom Mayclin, William Peta, Elaine Ries, and Mary Ann Ries welcomed her with open arms when she walked into heaven.

Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jane will be 11AM Tuesday, January 8th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine Street, Hudson. Interment will be private. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass Tuesday morning at St. Patrick’s. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers and will be used towards the charities that Mary Jane passionately supported. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
