Mary Kubera

Mary Lou Kubera, age 78 of Ellsworth, died unexpectedly December 10, 2021 at her residence. Mary Lou was born on Christmas Day, 1942 in Prescott, Wisconsin; the daughter of Louis and Vera (Hinz) Schmidt. She was raised in Ellsworth where she attended and graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Wendell Kubera and the couple made Marshfield their home for many years. Sadly, in 2018 he would precede her in death. She would later move to Ellsworth to be close to family. Over her lifetime, she worked as a nurse’s aide for a state supported nursing home and later drove bus as she loved children.
Mary Lou was a simple, kind hearted and quiet person. She enjoyed crocheting, tending to her flowerbeds, and watching the birds feast at the feeders. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling to different parts of the state or country as she thoroughly enjoyed unique landscapes and nature. Mary lived a quiet life taking in everything around her that nature has to give.

Mary is survived by her children John (Carol) Weidmann, Eugene (Tracy) Kubera, Cheryl (Troy) Birch; several grand and great grandchildren; siblings Jerry (friend Phyllis) Schmidt, Jim (Kathy) Schmidt, Margaret Haugen, Arlene (Jim) Belmore, as well as her nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Vera Schmidt; sister Donna Mae; Brother-in-law, Ronnie Haugen and Sister-in-law Jane Schmidt.
