Mary Margaret Gregerson, 61, of North Hudson, passed away surround by loved ones on November 24th, 2024. This concluded a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma and trigeminal neuralgia.
Preceded in death by her sister Pamela Campion and her father Wallace Gregerson. Survived by: mother Bernadine (Bernie) Gregerson, siblings Deborah Copeland, Greg Gregerson (Teri), Carl Gregerson, children John Lischewski Jr (Teresia), Samantha Arguelles (Eric), niece Kila Crossley (Luke), grandchildren Gabriella, Hailey, Norah, and Alistair.
Mary was known throughout the community as a kind and generous friend. Always quick with a smile and an absolute joy to be around. She started working at 13 years old for Pat Fletchers Dance Studio. After receiving a Bachelors in Liberal Arts from UW River Falls in 1986, she started working at Turningpoint, a domestic violence shelter. This led to a life long passion of helping those who were in difficult places.
Mary then became a police officer for North Hudson Police Department. However, she soon experienced health problems from trigeminal neuralgia which led her to become a guard for Saint Croix County Jail. This position led her to see the need for inmates to have opportunities to better themselves.
Knowing that the inmates needed more opportunities, she took on the job of Program Director for Saint Croix County Jail. Mary wanted to make sure that all of those who were incarcerated had a multitude of resources available to them for their improvement. She offered classes and coordinated volunteers to work in areas such as drug and alcohol intervention, GED programs, anger management, job training, and religious services. This program was such a success that it is now implemented in multiple counties across the state.
Aside from her career, Mary was active in her church community at Faith Community Church in Hudson. She worked in many programs such as: Faith Works, Alpha, Latte, young adult ministries, and mission trips. She also spent many hours volunteering in the community at places such as the food shelf and The Closet.
No matter how much pain Mary was in, she always found a way to help those around her. She was the living embodiment of strength and love.
1 John 3:18 – Dear children let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Turningpoint or volunteering wherever your heart feels a calling to honor the life that Mary led.
Her Service will be Livestreamed here.
When I was a young girl Mary was my dance teacher. My parents quickly came to love and trust her which led to her becoming my babysitter. In no time at all she was my friend, and I’ve been lucky to call her that for over 40 years.
Mary led a very busy and purpose-driven life, a life filled with many wonderful friends from all walks of life.
Even with such a huge circle of loved ones, she treated me like I was the only person in her life, like she had nothing better to do on any given day than take my call. When something awful happened in my life, Mary was the one to show up first, leave last and would cry right along with me while holding my hand. When something wonderful happened in my life, she would celebrate with such genuine joy that it might as well have been her own personal win. One time when I told her about someone who was harassing me, she leaned in close, dropped her voice an octave and said “You want me to pay them a little visit?” And if you knew Mary, you KNOW she meant it. 😉
The truth is anyone lucky enough to call her friend – or daughter, sister, mom, or especially Beegwa (her grandma name) – could have written this memorial because Mary loved everyone in her life with that fierceness and devotion. She was that friend all of us hope to have and all of us should strive to be.
Earth just lost an angel. And the heavens gained a star…..a beautiful super sparkly turquoise blue one.
