Mary Beth Roepke, age 43, passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2024 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Mary was born September 7, 1980 to Glen and Marlene (Pittman) Roepke in Stillwater, MN. From a young age, Mary embraced life and enjoyed making new friends. Mary graduated from Osceola High School in 1999. She was an avid Chieftains fan, was the girls’ basketball team manager as well as cheered on the football and basketball teams from the stands throughout and beyond her high school years.

As an adult, Mary’s most treasured title was “Auntie” and she was known as Auntie Mary to everyone. She had a caring heart for kids and would do anything for those whom she loved: celebrate birthdays and holidays, attend school games and performances and spoil them endlessly. Mary appreciated spending time with family and friends, going out to eat and for drinks, donut runs and short road trips. While at home, she snuggled with her puppies. During summer, Mary spent much of her time swimming, fishing the shores at Pine Lake or searching for the next photo op. She loved photography, from snapping spontaneous photos on her phone to photographing special events for family and friends. She enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts, Daughtry, Nickelback and Garth Brooks were just a few of her favorite musicians. Mary was a dedicated Minnesota Twins and Green Bay Packers fan, with some of her happiest memories being at Lambeau Field.

For 23 years, Mary was employed at Walmart. She was not only a dedicated employee, but over time became so close with many coworkers and frequent customers, she considered them her best friends and chosen family.

Mary’s generosity transcended into the community. For several years she participated in the Polar Plunge helping support the Special Olympics and was the proud captain of team Twinkle, Twinkle My Little Star, raising funds for autism awareness.

Mary will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the community and will be remembered for her big heart and for always putting others first.

Mary is survived by her father Glen H. Roepke; brother Glen A. Roepke; nephews Orion and Zayne Roepke; aunts and uncles Velvet (Todd) Peterson, Robert Pittman, Eileen (Mike) Lundin, Penny Pittman; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Marlene Roepke; grandparents Arthur and Florence Roepke, John and Beverly Pittman; aunt and uncles Jean and Randy Leckel and John Pittman and cousin Heather Lundin.

A Celebration of Life for Mary will be held at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home (Hudson) on May 29, 2024 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.

In honor of Mary, her family invites you to wear your favorite Packers, Twins or Osceola School t-shirt (or even your Walmart t-shirt/vest) to her memorial.

A private inurnment will take place on a later date at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Somerset, Wisconsin.

  2. I’m thankful for having known you and to have worked with you Mary. Loved your big kind heart so full of compassion for family and friends. Had fun doing walk for Autism with you. And our shared love of photography. I know that’s to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, that when we put our trust in Him, that death is not goodbye but until we meet again, my friend.
