Marybeth Potter, loving mother and gentle spirit, passed away in her Afton home on Tuesday night, August 2, 2011 at the age of 56. She was born the daughter of Donald and Patricia (Flaherty) Yemne on December 29, 1954 in Minneapolis. She graduated from Southwest High School in Minneapolis and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis. On May 2, 1987 Marybeth was united in marriage to Timothy Potter. They were blessed with two sons, Andrew and Joe. Marybeth was a self-taught gourmet cook, and was passionate about her kitchen. She was an accomplished athlete, finishing nine marathons. Downhill skiing was her other passion, one which she passed on to her sons.
Her grace and kindness affected many of those who cared for her during her illness.
Marybeth will remain in the hearts of her husband, Timothy Potter; sons, Andrew and Joe Potter; mother, Patricia Yemne; brother, Thomas (Emiko) Yemne; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Yemne.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Marybeth at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 16770 13th St. S., Lake St. Croix Beach. Fr. Jerome Kaiser will officiate. There will be a visitation time for one hour prior to the Mass. In Marybeth’s honor, memorials may be designated to Second Harvest. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory, 715-386-3725.
