Melba Saunders, age 86 of Hudson, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. Melba was born on April 13, 1933 in New Sharon, Iowa to parents Vern and Anna Larkins; and was the youngest of 7 children. She graduated High School from New Sharon High and soon after married her High School sweetheart, Carol Saunders, on February 21, 1951. Together they had three sons and thus beginning Melba’s full time job as mom.

They moved around a lot for Carol’s job with the railroad before making Hudson their home. She was a prankster who had a fun loving spirit and was always putting a smile on people’s faces. She was talented at cross-stitching, needlepointing, and every grandchild has at least one quilt hand made by Melba.

She will remain in the hearts of her husband Carol; son Tom (Marty) and their children Tom and Jennifer (Brent); son Mark (Paula) and Paula’s children Lea (Galen), Cory (Shaina), Krista (Josh); son Kevin and his children Ryan and Daniele and their mother Sarah, as well as 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Vern and Anna; sisters Rena, Maxine, Wanda, and Thelma; brothers Owen and Omer.

A memorial service for Melba will be at 11AM at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Hudson, WI on Friday, November 1, 2019. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorials are preferred to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
