Melissa Mae Skulski died peacefully September 1st, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was an inspiration to all that knew her as she fought a courageous twenty month battle with cancer. Her family will miss her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and fun loving attitude towards life.
Melissa, or Missy, spent her time doing what she loved. On a typical day, you could find her in her garden or painting and working on her crafts. Her other interests include fishing, the beach, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Melissa was born February 22, 1969 in Red Wing MN to James and Carol Swenson of Hager City WI. She attended Prairie View elementary and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1987. She took nursing classes at Rochester Community College and Southeast College in Red Wing, before deciding to open her daycare business in Hager City WI. Missy treasured children and spent years teaching and nurturing young children as owner of Kountry Kids Daycare. She married the love of her life, Thomas Skulski on August 15th, 1995 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Melissa and Tom have four loving children and two granddaughters. They just recently celebrated their twenty first wedding anniversary.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Thomas, of Hager City WI. Her four children, Cody James, Trey Thomas, Jada Mae, of Hager City, and Alexis Jahnae Nuessen (Stephen), and two granddaughter’s, Bella Faith and Annie Mae, of Emporia, Kansas. Her father, James Swenson, of Hager City, twin sister Michele (Patrick) Rehder of Red Wing MN, sister Kelly Swenson and brother Wade Swenson of Hager City WI. She is preceded in death by her mother Carol Swenson, infant sister Teresa, and grandparents, Elmer and Emiline Johnson, and Paul and Margaret Swenson.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 8th from 5-8 pm at New River Assembly of God in Red Wing MN and Friday one hour previous to the service. The funeral service is Friday, September 9th at 11:00 at the New River Assembly of God with Pastor Tom Johnson officiating.
