Michael Francis ”Doc”” Sullivan, age 66 of Siren, WI, passed away on December 7, 2015 at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Mike was born on September 22, 1949 in St. Paul, MN, to parents Clarence and Genevieve (Unger) Sullivan. Mike grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Agnes High School.  After High school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, attached to the Marines and served as a Medical Corpsman during the Vietnam War.

Mike was united in marriage to Cathy Bannie in 1973. They were blessed with three children, Jason, Kolleen and Michele. During that time they raised their family in Cottage Grove, MN. Mike and Cathy purchased a cabin in Siren, WI and for years the family and friends enjoyed coming up north. The couple retired to Siren, WI and have made many friends in the community.

Mike enjoyed spending time with his wife, their winter vacations to Fort Meyers, sitting outside in the summer with family and friends and enjoying a ””gin and tonic.””  Mike had a special relationship with his children. Each one was unique, and all brought joy to him. Mike enjoyed golfing, bowling, and riding his ATV. Mike and Cathy have five grandsons, and Mike loved that they so much enjoyed coming up to “Grandma’s and Grandpa’s” to fish, go on pontoon, ATV rides and hanging out with “Grandpa Mike.”

Mike will remain in the heart of his wife of 42 years, Cathy; children, Jason (Erica), Kolleen (Max) Gygi, and Michele (Scott) Trautner; grandchildren, Austin, Ryan, Liam, Jack, and Caleb; brother, Bill (Kathy); sister-in-law, Theresa; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Genevieve and siblings, Jerry, Joannie, Ken and Ron.

A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 19th at Siren United Methodist Church, 24025 First Ave. Siren, WI.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Private interment at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

The family would like to give a special ””Thank you”” to the staff at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital. They treated Mike with such respect, kindness and professionalism.

    • Uncle Mike will be missed, we had a lot of good times at the lake when
      Uncle Mike and Uncle Bill would show up at the lake {bass fishing}
      My prayers go out to you and your family at this time of lost.

    • Cathy and family,

      So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Kind of lost track of Mike and you after the death of my mother, Joan.

      I have fond memories of Uncle Mike. He was so cool when I was young. He would come around in his bright red car (don’t know the make/model) I do remember when he went into the Navy and then to Viet Nam as a medic. He was the only person I knew at the time that went overseas.
      Those memories of Christmas Eves at Grandma and Grandpa Sullivan’s house with all my aunts, uncles, and cousins will be with me forever.

      Prayers for you and your family at this difficult time.
