Michael Drace

Michael John Drace, age 61, of Hudson, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2018 in Hudson, WI. Mike was born on November 18, 1957 in Eau Claire, WI, to Clayton and Mary Ann (Dzienkowski) Drace. He grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Memorial High School in 1976. Mike continued his education at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. He was then united in marriage to Sandra Smith on July 17, 1987 in Eau Claire, and the couple were blessed with two children, Parker and Makenzie. Mike worked as a Packaging Engineer for several companies including Quad Graphics in Lomira, WI, and managed D&G Packaging in Menomonee Falls with his father and brother John. Mike enjoyed all music, especially Jimmy Buffet, along with cheering on his favorite team, the Packers. He also enjoyed downhill skiing, boating and spending time helping family and friends with their construction projects.

Mike will remain in the heart of his wife of 31 years, Sandy; children, Parker and Makenzie; his mother, Mary Ann; siblings John (Julie) Drace, Diana (Paul) Manthei. He is preceded in death by his father, Clayton.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Mike will be held at 11AM Thursday, November 29th at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, WI. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held from 4pm to 7 pm, Wednesday, November 28th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, WI, and one hour prior to the mass at church. Please wear your Packer or Jimmy Buffet apparel in honor of Mike for his celebration of life!

Mike’s family would like to thank the staff at Comforts of Home in Hudson and St. Croix Hospice, who have assisted him and our family through these final years. Their care and dedication have been a true blessing. Funeral services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home.
