Michael James Kapaun, age 65 of Hudson, passed away June 25, 2018 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Mike was born April 21, 1953 in Hudson to Clarence and Frances (Sundstrom) Kapaun. He grew up in Hudson, and graduated from Hudson High School in 1971. Mike previously worked as a guard at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Stillwater; and before retiring, was working in building maintenance for several local businesses.

Mike enjoyed family visits and spending time with his grandsons. He loved watching western movies and studying the history of the Wild West and the Civil War. Mike was fond of traveling, but he usually traveled alone which allowed him the freedom to visit wherever he wanted. His travels often included visiting the historical graves of many famous western figures and outlaws.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Eddie) Vlcek; grandsons, Dean and Quintin; brother, Kenneth (Wol Su “Pam”) Kapaun; nephew, Robert (Chanthou) Kapaun; great-nieces and nephews, Veronica, Stephanie, Perry and Cole; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Nathan.

A graveside service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 29 at the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson.
