Michael Joseph Kurilla, Jr., 77, of Somerset, WI, passed away on February 24, 2024 in River Falls, WI.

Michael was born to Michael and Virginia (Burmeister) Kurilla on June 17, 1946 in Ashland, WI. After graduating high school, he joined the Army where he was stationed in Germany for a few years and worked in transportation. After leaving the military, he worked for the city of Saint Paul in waterline maintenance and retired in 2017.

Michael was a proud Packer fan, attending many games including Aaron Rodgers’ last game. He also enjoyed playing cards, hunting in northern Wisconsin, skiing, and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed spending many weekend nights at Cedar Lake Speedway enjoying the races or playing cards with friends.

He is survived by his sons, Matthew (Tiffany) and Michael Kurilla.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia; and sister, Carol.

A visitation to honor Michael’s life will be held on Thursday February 29, 2024 at O’Connell Funeral Home, 520 S. Eleventh Street, Hudson, WI at 1:30 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m.

  1. Mike worked for us when we owned the Water park. We got to know Mike well, and talked to him often. He would talk to us about his family and how much he loved his two boys, and wished he could see them more often
    We thought a like of Mike, he was a very good person. We will miss him.

  2. Mike stopped in at St Croix Harley Davidson where I got to know him and enjoyed his company. Motor Cycling was a big part of his life and riding with his sons. I will miss meeting him for breakfast and the conversations we had. Rip Mike. In
