Michael Lamont ”Mike”” Larson, age 55, of Brooklyn Park, MN, died suddenly October 14, 2015 at his home in Brooklyn Park.
Mike was born January 13, 1960 to Kenneth and Marcelyn (Bolduc) Larson in Minneapolis, MN. He attended North High School, and then trained as a warehouseman at the Job Corps in Billings, Montana. He then attended Anoka Technical Institute and received a diploma in mechanics in 1982, and Anoka Technical College, receiving a diploma in tool and die making in 1988.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Mike enjoyed his career as a tool and die maker, and worked in the Minneapolis area for 27 years as an expert in precision and CNC machining. Aside from work life, Mike enjoyed computers. From the moment he worked on his first computer in the 1970’s he spent much of his free time learning how computers worked, modifying computer hardware and software, and creating state-of-the art systems in his home. Mike was a mentor to family and friends and played an integral role in shaping their technical passions and ultimately their career choices in computer and software programming, design, and engineering. Mike also enjoyed auto mechanics, restoring classic vehicles and helping family members select and maintain their automobiles. He was willing to lend a helping hand whenever asked or needed. Mike also loved children, and enjoyed spending time with his own, his grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews.
Mike is survived by his mother, Marcelyn Boyd, sons Christopher Larson and Tony Meyers, daughter-in-law Nikki Larson, grandsons Matthew Larson and Ryan Meyers, sisters Robin Sanchez, Dawn Franzmeier, Eva Daniels, and Crystal Larson and brothers Richard Larson, Kevin Larson and Scott Peterson, and many nieces and nephews, and will be greatly missed by them all. He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Larson, brother Alan (Jimmy) Larson, nephew Daniel Sanchez, and niece Angela (Larson) Coleman.
A private interment will be held at Willow River Cemetery.
