Michael R. McLuen

Michael R. McLuen, age 66 of Hudson WI, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at The Pillars Hospice Home of Oakdale, MN. Mike was born July 6, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI to parents Richard and Shirley McLuen. After moving to Minnesota with is family, Mike graduated from Stillwater High School. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served four years and an 18-month tour of duty in Vietnam at Da Nang AB, Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he attended UW – River Falls, where he earned dual majors in Economics and Business Administration with high honors. On December 19, 1970, Mike was united in marriage to his wife Ligia at St. Charles Catholic Church in Bayport, MN. Their union in marriage would be blessed with two children, Nicole and Sean.

After college, Mike worked for Ruan, Space Center, and 3M before buying and operating his own business, Trailermasters, Inc., selling all kinds of new and used over-the-road transport and storage trailers. When not at work, Mike could be found outdoors, doing what he loved – hunting and fishing! It didn’t matter if it was fishing for halibut in Alaska, salmon and trout in Lake Michigan, or hunting duck, pheasants, deer, elk, or antelope, Mike loved to hunt and fish. Mike also golfed, and was in his domain behind the grill among his family and friends. Mike had a great sense of humor, and could be relied on as the jokester and story teller. His loved ones fondly recall his infamous “McLuen dance” and how much he enjoyed being a grandpa. He will be missed by the many that knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his wife of 41 yrs, Lee; his daughter, Nicole McLuen; his son, Sean (Keri) McLuen; granddaughters, Madison and Kennedy; his brothers, Patrick (Patrice) McLuen, and Dennis “Tiger” (Susan) McLuen; and his sister, Dale (John) Sundberg. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life services for Mike McLuen will be held at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, December 16 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th Street in Hudson. Visitation will immediately follow the service until 3:00pm. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson WI.
