Milton Hamman

Milton M. Hamman, age 88, of Wilson, WI, passed away on October 24, 2010 at the Baldwin Hospital. Milton was born on October, 5, 1922 to Edward and Louise (Frank) Hamman in Oak Grove Township, WI. He attended school at Lone Oak School in Oak Grove, Prescott Grade School & Prescott High School. After school Milton took on work as a dairy farmer. He worked hard on his farm milking cows and doing crop work. In 1955 he married Ruth Nelson in Bayport, Minnesota. The two lived on the farm where Milton would continue to work. Sadly, Ruth passed away in 1993. Milton eventually sold the cattle to focus on crop work. In September of 1998 Milton met Evelyn Spielman, a cook at the Pleasant View Inn. After frequently stopping to eat Evelyn’s food at the inn, the two went out on their first date. They fell in love and Milton spent the last 12 years of his life with Evelyn as his beloved companion. Milton lived and worked on his farm until 2009 when he moved to Wilson.

Milton was a hard working and very dedicated man. He enjoyed time with friends and family, fishing, and spending time with his dog, Buddy. Always the farmer, Milton enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and took interest in old and antique tractors and farm machinery.

Milton is survived by; his fiancée, Evelyn Spielman of Wilson & her children, Deb (Doug) Schalow of Vesper, WI, Jeff (Shirley) Spielman of Kentucky, Pam (Gary) Petranovich of Glenwood City, WI & Jim (Sandy) Spielman of Wilson, WI; Ruth’s children, Arliss Wilson of Cambridge, MN, Gene (Jo Ellen) Trap of Davis, CA & Sharon (David) Wood of Brainerd, MN; brother, Wallace (Lorraine) Hamman of Plymouth, IN; sisters, Viola (Fred) Filkins of Prescott, WI & Mildred Glaus of Amery, WI; sister-in-law, Arlene Hamman of Eau Claire, WI & many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Milton is preceded in death by; wife, Ruth; parents, Edward & Louise; brothers, Calvin & Wilbur & brother-in- law, Bob Glaus.

A memorial service for Milton will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin at 11am. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to services at the church as well as from 5-8pm on Wednesday, October 27 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory – Baldwin. 715-684-3434
