Muriel Signa Nelson, age 88, of Hudson passed away on Wednesday morning, May 25, 2011 at the Hudson Hospital. She was born the daughter of Milton and Clara (Hogenson) Anderson on June 22, 1922 in Spring Lake Township, WI. She graduated with the class of 1940 from Elmwood High School; her yearbook photo noted she was “A friend to all; an enemy to none.” On April 8, 1944, Muriel was united in marriage to Galen T. Nelson in Spring Lake Township. They were blessed with six children: Karen, Jim, Gale, Jeff, Jerry, and Ed. Muriel enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, and she was well known for her Norwegian cooking – especially the traditional lutefisk, lefse, and krumkake!

Muriel will remain in the hearts of her children: Karen (Dale) Langness, Jim (Mary “Micky”) Nelson, Gale (Tim) O’Connell; Jeff (Karen) Nelson, Jerry (Andrea) Nelson, and Ed (Susie) Nelson; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous in-laws, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen; infant brother, Corvin; and her parents.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Muriel’s life on Sunday, June 5th at 1:30PM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 712 Grandview Dr., Hudson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Sunday. Interment will follow privately at Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be designated to the church.
