Murle Henningsen

Murle L. Henningsen, age 97, a lifelong resident of Lakeland, Minnesota, died peacefully Tuesday April 16, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. Murle was born on March 5, 1916 in Lakeland, Minnesota; the daughter of William ’Beanie’ and Lucille (Frazier) Miller. Murle dedicated her life to her family as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She would be united in marriage to Carl Henningsen in Stillwater, Minnesota on September 28, 1935.

Murle loved entertaining or visiting with family and friends over a cup of coffee and cookies. She enjoyed tending to her floral gardens and quilting; as she has made dozens of quilts for others. She took pleasure from her travels to Orlando’s Disney World, Arizona, or anywhere to spend time with family and friends. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, visiting Treasure Island with her family, or yelling ’Bingo’ at the Bayport Legion. She also was very fond of her time with the Bible B’s (retired study group) of Valley Baptist Church.

Murle will be remembered by her family and friends for her genuine and spirited demeanor, yet firm and stern when needed. Many of her grandchildren received driving tips and on the road training with grandma, or more commonly known as ’88’; which reflected her lead foot..

Murle will live on in the lives of her children: Carl A. (Vera) Henningsen of Lakeland, MN, Douglas R. (Joni) Henningsen of Isle, MN, and Marcia L. Henningsen of Lakeland, MN; her sister, Marge Bradshaw of Lakeland, MN; grandchildren: Rhonda (Tom) Hudson of Lakeland, MN, Bryan Henningsen of Hudson, WI, Brad (Ann) Henningsen of Dunnell, MN, Rae Ann (Don) Lennartson of Balsam Lake, WI, and Tod (Bridgette) Henningsen of Isle, MN; great grandchildren: Trista (Wally) Walas of Yorkville, IL, Tommy Hudson of Lakeland, MN, Brandon Henningsen of Hudson, WI, Stephanie Henningsen of Rush City, Katie, Talia, and Gianna Henningsen of Dunnell, MN, Alison, Alex, and Tina Lennartson of Balsam Lake, WI; one great-great grandchild Erica Walas of Yorkville, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl; two sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral service for Murle will be 11AM Saturday April 20 at Valley Baptist Church; 860 St. Croix Trail So., Lakeland, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday morning. Private interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeland with casket bearers being Tom Hudson, Tommy Hudson, Bryan Henningsen, Brad Henningsen, Brandon Henningsen, and Tod Henningsen. Memorials are preferred to the Bible B’s of Valley Baptist Church. Services entrusted to the O’Connell Funeral Home of Hudson.
