Myrna Frost

Myrna Erleen Frost, age 100, a longtime Hudson resident, died at Parkview Nursing Home in Woodville on November 20, 2010. She was born on November 30, 1909 in Douglas, Nebraska to Edward & May (McKinnon) Smack. Myrna grew up in Lincoln, NE where she graduated from high school and the University of Nebraska with a degree in elementary education. It was at the U of NE that she met her future husband, Justin B. Frost. They were united in marriage on June 12, 1932 at her parents’ home in Lincoln.

Myrna and Justin would be blessed with four children: Carl, Warren, Harlan and Ellen. They lived in Bloomington, Amery, and River Falls before settling in Hudson in the 1950’s. It was here that Myrna became active in the Presbyterian Church – making quilts with the sewing group, the Hudson Homemakers Club, and was a 4H leader for Hudson Prairie Sun Risers for over 25 years.

Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, Justin in July of 1978; her son, Harlan; and her brothers, Wayne and Lyle Smack. She is survived by her sons, Carl (Gloria) Frost of Minneapolis and Warren “Jack” (Merriel) Frost of Shelton, WA; daughter, Ellen (Ed) Murdzek of Hudson; sisters, Marjorie Cotton of Nebraska and Maxine (Frank) Ortiz of California; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren..

A funeral service will be held for Myrna at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 29th at the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson with Pastor Stephanie Anthony officiating. Interment to follow in Willow River Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, 715-386-3725.
