Myron Kent Olson, age 88, of Hammond, Wisconsin, passed away on September 28, 2023 at Saint Croix Health Care Center in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Myron was born on March 20, 1935 to parent’s Joel and Elloween Olson in Spring Valley, Wisconsin.
Myron was united in marriage with the love of his life, Lorna (Woods) on December 31, 1954 in Decorah, Iowa. Together they raised six children. After Myron proudly served our country in the Navy, he became a self-employed auto mechanic at Myron’s Service Center in Oakdale, Minnesota until his retirement in 2001.
Myron enjoyed his work in the auto mechanics industry. He cared for his customers with the most respect, and it showed through his honest work and communication with his customers. He was a hard worker that was always willing to share his opinion, whether asked or not. Myron was a family man that enjoyed his hobby farm with his favorite horse, Brandy, working in his gardens and around the yard caring for his lawn. He was stern when needed, but always enjoyed being a jokester and teasing those around him. Myron loved telling stories, sometimes the same story over and over. He found comfort in the company of his family dogs through the years, including Polly and Hawkins that would cuddle him when he needed it the most.
Myron is survived by his loving wife Lorna; children Nola (Art) McClaran, Roger (Michelle Svacina) Olson, Jody Dunn, Kathy VanDeBerg, Tom (Kathy) Olson, Rich (Jamie Wilson) Olson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and others who consider him family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joel and Elloween Olson; siblings Lillian Jacobson, Joel Olson, Jerry Olson and Ted Olson.
A Memorial Service for Myron will be held at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th Street, Hudson, WI 54016 on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 12:00pm. Visitation will take place two hours prior.
Funeral services entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin and Hudson.

Praying for comfort and peace for all of Myron’s family and friends during this difficult time. I am grateful for all of the wonderful memories and lifelong friendships that our families found in our extended Westwood family! May eternal rest grant unto him.
Our heartfelt sympathy on your loss. While we live in / around Hudson, my husband and son religiously put our cars in Myron’s hands for any / all repairs.
Once we needed to downsize to only one vehicle and could not park-leave that vehicle for repairs, Myron was always willing to accommodate a “first-thing-in-the-morning-” schedule for us. We missed him when he was no longer in the shop.

I worked for Myron when I was in high school. My parents knew Myron because they grew up in spring valley also.
I went to mechanic school and spent my whole career as a mechanic because of Myron. He taught me a lot, especially to work hard and not to give up on something just because it was tough.
He was a great mentor to me and he definitely altered the course of my life.
