Myrtle Pechuman

Myrtle I. Pechuman, age 82 of Spring Valley, WI, formerly of Afton, MN, passed away peacefully September 20, 2017 at her home. Myrtle was born December 9, 1934 in Cayuga, ND to Marstrand and Marie (Giske) Anderson. She graduated from Groton High School in Groton, SD, the class of 1953. She was united in marriage on June 8, 1963 to Kennard Lowell Pechuman. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Myrtle worked as a secretary for the Federal Highway Administration for many years, lovingly cared for her children, and finished her working career as a secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley.

Most important to Myrtle was her faith and her family. She was a devoted member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, active in various church activities, church choir, and prayer chains. Myrtle’s faith was strong and steadfast, praying for her children each day, and instilling that faith in them. She cherished her time with her family, especially enjoying each moment with her grandson, Hunter and granddaughter, Katelyn. Myrtle enjoyed watching the MN Twins play baseball, playing dominoes, and being a part of her quilting circle.

Myrtle’s gentle and gracious heart will be missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Kennard; daughters: Beverly (Paul) Peck of Welch, Gail (Jason) Jung of Hudson, and Sharon (Mike) Tolva of Afton; son, Gary (Jessica Walus) Pechuman of Afton; grandson, Hunter Ellstrom of Hudson; granddaughter, Katelyn Ellstrom of Hudson; and twin sister, Marvel Kidder of Spring Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Hazel Holland; and brothers, Alvin and Rodger Anderson.

Funeral Services will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, September 23 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 880 Neal Ave. S., Afton, with Pastor Dennis Drews officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at the church. Interment will take place at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Peter Lutheran Church or Samaritan’s Purse.
