Nancy Van Someren was born on March 8, 1947, to Niece (Nick) and Erma (nee te Grootenhuis) Van Someren joining her older sister, Linda Lou. Nancy attended Baldwin Christian School and graduated from New Richmond High School. Her employment opportunities following high school included serving lunches at Baldwin/Woodville District, helping with laundry services at St. Croix Industries in New Richmond, and working at County Market and Super 8 motel in Hudson.
Throughout her life Nancy enjoyed traveling and vacationing in various places. When younger, she enjoyed family trips to Michigan, Lake of the Woods, MO, Iowa, and Duluth. After her sister and family moved to WA, she enjoyed many family trips often visiting Mt. Rainier and many other scenic places—Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore NP, Yellowstone NP, Grand Teton NP, Olympic NP, Yosemite NP, Kings Canyon NP, Disneyland, Sea World, Tijuana, Mexico, Crater Lake NP, Oregon Coast, Columbia River Gorge, and many other WA and British Columbia sights.
After growing up on the family farm Nancy lived in several different settings beginning with a group home in New Richmond. Following she enjoyed apartment living in Hudson, New Richmond, and Baldwin. After her parents, Nick and Erma, departed this life, Nancy made many trips by airplane to WA, 3 to 4 times per year for 16 years to visit her sister and family. She immensely enjoyed those family times with her sister, brother-in-law, and her 3 nieces while they were growing up.
Most importantly, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus. She enjoyed the church worship services, in Hudson, New Richmond, and Baldwin Christian Reformed Church and continued attending as long as she was able. Singing spiritual songs and humming along even while face-timing with her sister and brother-in-law in more recent years was a highlight each week day. She tremendously appreciated her church community, friends, pastors, and other well-wishers along with her Baldwin Care Center community.
Nancy went home to Jesus on January 17, 2024. Nancy’s surviving family includes sister Linda Lou and Walter Wierenga, niece Charlene and Ryan Gibb, niece Lenore Wierenga, niece Cheryl Wierenga and Kevin Atkinson, grandnieces Emma Gibb and Jaypu Gibb, grandnephew Momo and Pauline Gibb and their son, Edward Gibb, grandnieces Lindsey, Macy, and Sophia Atkinson, and life-long special friends Carol Rens and Rosie Lestrud.

Linda and family I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when I was in kindergarten coming to the farm to play with Nancy. We slid all over the house on the linoleum in stocking feet.
