Napravnik, Dawn

Dawn Marie Napravnik, age 59, of Hudson, Wisconsin, formerly of Arlington Heights, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at her home in Hudson. Dawn and the love of her life, Curt Napravnik, were united in marriage on July 18, 1981 in Niles, Illinois and were later blessed with two sons, Eric and Josh.

Dawn’s greatest joy in life was her family, and above everything else, she cherished the time spent with them. She was an avid reader who loved meeting with her book club, as well as gardening, crafting, and playing with her dog Scarlet.

She loved the tranquility of nature, and the family cabin on Spirit Lake in northern Wisconsin was her happy place. She could be found enjoying her favorite beer, bourbon, or scotch while cheering on her beloved White Sox. Dawn absolutely loved kids, and much of her career and service was focused around children. She worked as a children’s librarian with the Arlington Heights Memorial Library and taught Catechism and 1st Communion for nearly 10 years at St. James Parish.

Dawn will remain in the hearts of her husband of 38 years, Curt Napravnik; sons Eric (Danielle) Napravnik and Josh (Rachel Fields) Napravnik; granddaughter Emma; siblings Scott (Sharon) Andersohn and Annemarie (Tom) Rand; in-laws Chuck and Barb Napravnik; sister-in-law Caryn (Tom) Knueven; brothers-in-law Charles (Jen) Napravnik and Craig Napravnik; and her 8 nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Dick and Kay.

A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 29th at St. Isaac Jogues Parish, 8149 W Golf Road, Niles, Illinois. A lunch reception will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hackney’s on Lake, 1514 E Lake Ave, Glenview, IL.

In remembrance of Dawn, family and friends are encouraged to bring a favorite children’s book to the memorial and reception to be donated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Dawn’s honor.

Services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremations Services in Hudson, Wisconsin.
