Nathan Schultz

Nathan “Nate” “Schultzy” J. Schultz, age 42, of Hammond, WI, died on October 31, 2020 tragically in an automobile accident.

Nate was born in River Falls, WI on September 20, 1978 to John and Diane Schultz of Hammond, WI. He graduated from St. Croix Central High School, and then went on to study Diesel Mechanics at WITC in New Richmond.

Nate started his love of tractors (especially red ones) at a young age: playing with them, driving them, working on them, building them, tearing them down, re-building them, pulling them in tractor pulls, and of course fixing them again. This love of tractors started him on his career path as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with Barton Sand and Gravel Tiller Company.

He was united in marriage to Mya Monteith, a union that would bless him with the key to his heart and his mini-me, Kylie Jo. Becoming a father was one of Nate’s proudest moments, and he also cherished inheriting his bonus daughter, Savanna. This union would later dissolve in divorce.

Nate lived true to the motto of “work hard, play hard.” He had an incredible work ethic, and a real passion for mechanics both personally and professionally. Though he may have had a tough exterior, he had a soft heart, always lending a hand to the people he loved and cared about and those he knew he could help. Nate was a NTPA member and active in the tractor pulling circuit community, as well as was president of the Roberts Knight Rider Snowmobile Club.

He and Kylie shared many amazing memories together, riding snowmobile, side by side, tractor pulling, summers at the lake, and evenings around the bonfire. He also took great pride in watching Kylie and Savanna’s horse competitions. Many memories were made and good times were had with his “brothers by choice:” Rich Miller, Joe Warner, Ryan Kuebcher, and Mike Clennon, along with numerous others he called friends. Nate was a man of few words, but he always lived life to the fullest and will be missed beyond belief.

Nate is survived by his daughter, Kylie Jo; bonus daughter, Savanna Grant; parents, Diane and John Schultz; sister, Sara Roettger; nephews: Wesley, Owen, and Bryce Roettger; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Reuben & Margaret Schultz and Marg & Joe Hawkins; and aunts and uncles: Pat & Doug Hughes, Molly Schultz, Roger Schultz, and Karen Lizakowski.

A Celebration of Nate’s life will be held on Saturday May 22nd from 1:00-5:00 at the Hammond Lions Club Tractor/Truck Pull Site located at 1500 Ridgeway St., Hammond, WI. Memorials are preferred to the family.
