Nestor Daniel Duran Vega, age 35, most recently of Elmwood, WI, originally of the Westside of St. Paul, MN, unexpectedly passed away at home on Saturday, May 8, 2021. Nestor was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to parents Juan Antonio & Armida. Nestor’s family relocated to the United States & settled in St. Paul, MN, where Nestor attended Humboldt Senior High. After he completed his schooling, Nestor went on to work accounting and financial jobs. Nestor was always a good student, and he was able to teach himself the skills he needed for not only his work, but also the many other things he aspired to learn and to do in life. Since junior high, Nestor took great pride in sticking to his workout routines & maintaining his physical health. Nestor’s physique made him appear to be a tough guy with an intimidating demeanor, but anyone who knew him knew he was truly a kindhearted man with an easygoing attitude. He was always a charismatic guy who people gravitated towards wherever he went. Nestor was a caring uncle to his two nephews, & enjoyed spending time with his family most of all. Nothing could stop him from cheering on his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings; & Nestor loved being around all kinds of animals, especially dogs. He was a lover of good food, (especially steaks). Nestor’s appetite made him known as an amateur competitive eater, but what he’ll be remembered for his is ambition to achieve his goals, his dedication to his family & friends, & the appetite he had for life & joy that he shared with all who knew him.

Nestor will remain in the hearts of his beloved mother, Armida (Robert) Lockwood of Elmwood, WI; brother, Tony Duran Vega of San Diego, CA; two nephews, Jesús Martinez, & Antonio Duran; 15 aunts & uncles; as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, & friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Antonio Duran Guzman.

A Memorial Gathering of Nestor’s Family & Friends will be held from 2:00-5:00 P.M, Saturday, May 15th 2021 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI, & concluded with a Memorial Service at 5:00 P.M. Interment will take place at the Baldwin Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family, & can be mailed to: O’Connell Funeral Home, Care of Nestor Duran-Vega Family, 1010 Newton St. Baldwin, WI 54002, to be forwarded to the family on your behalf.

    • My condolences to the Nestor family. When loosing a loved one it can be unbearable. That is why God has provided scriptures in the Bible to help ones cope with the loss. In the Bible book of Isaiah 25:8 Jehovah God promises soon to “swallow up death forever.” He also promises to bring back those who have fallen asleep in death (Acts 24:15). In a little while longer this kind of pain will be a thing of the past (Revelations 21:4). May these scriptures bring you comfort in this difficult time (jw.org)
