Nickleby Marietta

Marietta Rose Nickleby, age 88 of Hudson, died Sunday February 23, 2020 at Comforts of Home in Hudson.

Marietta was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin on January 5, 1932 to Robert and Mary (LaBrash) Bruce. She graduated from New Richmond High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Clare for a short time. On July 5, 1952, she was united in marriage to Curtis Paul Nickleby in New Richmond, and this union was blessed with six children. Through the years Marietta retouched professional photos, sold Mary Kay, and worked at the St. Croix County Clerk of Court office. Marietta had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She was a member of the choir at Bethel Lutheran for many years. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and would sew many Halloween costumes and outfits for school plays. After retirement Marietta and Curtis did a lot of traveling and made St. Petersburg, Florida home in 1996. Bowling and dancing, amongst other things kept them very active socially. She returned to Hudson in 2012 after her husband’s death in 2011.

Marietta will remain in the hearts of her children, Joan (Scott Spradley) Nickleby, Bob (Kathy) Nickleby, John (Kathe) Nickleby, Thomas (Audrey) Nickleby, Jane (Jeff) Richards, and Ann Decker; grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Nickleby, Chris (Andrea) Nickleby, Emily (John) Steele, Amy (Reed) Brandvik, Christina (Conway) Reese, Joshua (fiancé Emilie) Nickleby, Charles Richards, Alexander Richards, and Tristin Decker; great-grandchildren, Madison,Johanna, Kara, Macy, Blake, Everett, Easton, Emerson, Garrett, Adam, Waylon, Matthew, Lillian, Annie, And Margaret.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; her parents; brother, Donald (Ardis) Bruce; sister, Arlene (Neil) Fisher; and sister-in-law, Joan (John) Deiss.

**A private family Memorial Service will be held at O’Connell Family Funeral Home**
