Nora (Stohl) Swanson

Nora (Stohl) Swanson, age 95, died peacefully on October 21, 2017 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson.

Nora was born on a small farm near Amery on March 21, 1922; the daughter of Harris and Clara (Siltberg) Johnson. She would live on the farm until she married Reuben Stohl in July of 1943. They would be blessed with two children. They lived in Dresser until 1957, when they moved to Hudson. Sadly, in 1961, she was preceded in death by Reuben. She would later meet and marry Willis Swanson in 1967. He would precede her in 1985. She has been a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Hudson for 40 years.

Nora is survived by her daughter, Judy (Bob) Ruka; daughter-in-law Kathy Stohl, grandchildren, Tim (Alissa) Ruka, Bill (Angie) Ruka, Matt Stohl, Amy (Wes) Haney, and Jason (Ashley) Stohl; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Irma Felland and Arlene Wicklander; sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson and Lois Swanson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Nora was preceded in death by her first husband, Reuben Stohl; second husband, Willis Swanson; son, Ronald Stohl; parents; and brothers Oral and Willis.

A Memorial service will be at 11:00AM on Friday, October 27, at the First Baptist Church, 309 Vine Street, Hudson, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church Friday morning. Interment will be at the St. Peter’s Cemetery in Dresser, Wisconsin. Memorials are preferred. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory.
