Norma E. Dahlman (nee: Gunderson), age 85, of Hudson, died on the morning of August 30, 2013 at her home in Red Cedar Canyon, in Hudson. Norma was born on January 31, 1928 to Ole and Nanna (Swenson) Gunderson in Eau Galle, Wisconsin. She grew up in Woodville, Wisconsin and graduated from Woodville High School. She was married, at the age of “18 and 1/2” to a young serviceman, named Gordon “Roy” Dahlman on September 14, 1946. For a time the two made their home in Woodville before settling in Hudson. Norma was a homemaker for many years until the children were school age, then began working at Quality Food Market as a cashier. She went on to become a purchaser and administrative assistant for JH Larson Electric where she worked until her retirement. Norma and Roy enjoyed retirement with family and friends close by.
Norma was a dedicated wife and mother. She maintained the reputation for keeping a very clean house and instilled that by example in her family. She enjoyed baking, sewing and quilting with the women of the Bethel Lutheran Church. With the church, she was also a Sunday School Teacher and an active participant in the Bethel Lutheran Scandinavian Food Festival. Her cooking was always enjoyed by her family – especially on the holidays. Her famous lefse was always a hit.
Norma is survived by her: husband; Gordon “Roy” of Hudson; children, Cindy (Jim) Pyle of Lake Holcombe, WI, Brad (Karin) Dahlman of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Wendy (Mark) Stahnke of Hudson, WI; grandchildren, Mike (Tracy) Pyle, Amanda (Dan) Lehman, Dan (Jody) Dahlman, Lucas (Emma) Dahlman, Justin (Amber) Dahlman, Kali Dahlman, Sam Dahlman, Brielle (Kyle) Anfinson, and Brandon (Rachael) Stahnke; great-grandchildren, Jake, River, Max, Ian, Levi, Adrian, and two on the way; sister-in-law, Lenore Gunderson and many other relatives and dear friends.
Norma is preceded in death by her; son, Danny; parents, Ole and Nanna Gunderson; 3 brothers, Eivind, Hagner and Leonard; and 2 sisters, Ollie and Dagny.
A Funeral Celebration of Life for Norma will be held at 11am on Monday, September 2, 2013 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, downtown Hudson, WI. A visitation will be held from 9:30am until time of service at the church. Burial will be held privately at Lone Pine Cemetery in Woodville, WI.
