Norma was born on January 31, 1928 to Ole and Nanna (Swenson) Gunderson in Eau Galle, Wisconsin. She grew up in Woodville, Wisconsin and graduated from Woodville High School. Norma was a homemaker for many years until the children were school age, then began working at Quality Food Market as a cashier. She went on to become a purchaser and administrative assistant for JH Larson Electric where she worked until her retirement. Norma and Roy enjoyed retirement with family and friends close by.

Norma was a dedicated wife and mother. She maintained the reputation for keeping a very clean house and instilled that by example in her family. She enjoyed baking, sewing and quilting with the women of the Bethel Lutheran Church. With the church, she was also a Sunday School Teacher and an active participant in the Bethel Lutheran Scandinavian Food Festival.
