Opal Rorig

Opal Christine Rorig, age 79, of Hudson, WI, passed away on November 10, 2013 at Pine Ridge Gardens in Hudson.

Opal was born on October 17, 1934 to Manley and Ester Anderson in Superior, WI. She attended College at the University of Wisconsin- Superior, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Opal was united in marriage to COL (ret) Manfred H. Rorig and their marriage would be blessed with one son: Dean Matthew.

Opal taught fourth grade for several years in Duluth, MN, Racine, WI and Colorado Springs, Co. In addition to teaching, Opal was also a Accredited Medical Records Technician and later combined both passions while teaching new technicians at St. Catherine’s University in Minneapolis.

Opal enjoyed tracing the family’s genealogy, volunteering at the Octagon House and spending time with friends and relatives. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spent much time tending the “aquatic garden” at their cabin in Ladysmith. She was also an active member at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Woodbury.

She is survived by her husband, Manfred H Rorig of Hudson, son Dean Matthew and Antje Jacobson Rorig, WI, of Westmont, IL and grandson: Gabriel Robert Rorig of Bloomington, MN.

Visitation will be will be held from 4:00-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1583 Radio Dr., Woodbury, MN. Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at King of Kings Lutheran Church with a viewing one hour prior to service at church. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Greenwood Cemetery, 8402 Tower Ave., Superior, WI 54880. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the CCH Foundation, King of Kings Lutheran Church, and University of Wisconsin – Superior Education Leadership Program.
