Pastor David Allan McDowell

 Pastor David McDowell, age 62, of Ellsworth, WI passed away Saturday, February 1, at Kinnic Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, River Falls, WI. He went to meet his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family after a 19 year battle with a brain tumor.David was born on September 7, 1951 at Dickinson County Memorial hospital, Iron Mountain, MI. The son of David and Betty McDowell, he grew up in Kingsford, MI. He graduated from Kingsford high school, Northern Michigan University and North Park Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree.David married his best friend, Diane Mott, at First Covenant Church, Iron Mountain, MI June 21, 1980. He served an internship at Squaw Peak Covenant Church in Phoenix, AZ and was Pastor at the Covenant Churches in Warroad, MN, Albert Lea MN and then at Bethel Covenant Church in Ellsworth, WI. Pastor Dave faithfully served the Lord throughout his life. He preached God’s Word to everyone he met as he had a heart for all people. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, visiting with friends, cooking Italian meals, rooting for the Chicago Bears, and hanging out with his faithful dog, Cocoa. He will be remembered for his positive, playful spirit even in the midst of pain, and for 3 a.m. wake up calls, spaghetti for breakfast, homemade noodles, and ravioli’s. Saturday afternoons watching cooking shows, and nights watching Walker Texas Ranger, and M.A.S.H., and sharing his love for Jesus Christ.He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Diane McDowell; children Joshua (Shelby) McDowell of Colorado Springs, Co, Seth McDowell of Minneapolis, MN, Aaron (Chelsea) McDowell of Chicago, IL, and Hannah (Ben) Johnson of Rochester, MN; grandchildren Jackson McDowell, Rorie McDowell, and Sullivan McDowell; parents David and Betty McDowell; siblings Dan (Lynn) McDowell, Sandie (Todd) Essendrup, Douglas (Marti) McDowell, DuWayne (Julie) McDowell; many nieces and nephews; in-laws Donald and Helen Mott and their family; and many wonderful friends.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Violet King Galloway, Joseph Sacchetti Sr., David W. McDowell Sr., and Francis Gardner, and great grandparents George and Edna King and sister in law Deborah Anderson.Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, is serving the family.
