Patricia Jane Frey (Stephenson)
“Pat” age 83 of Glenwood City, WI. Passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 31, 2025, at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond. Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed.
She was born February 20, 1942, in St. Paul, MN to Claude and Laura (Karnick) Stephenson. Pat graduated from Our Lady of Peace High School in St. Paul. Later she attended and graduated from the Nursing School at the “OLD” Ancker Hospital in St. Paul. Pat served as a civilian RN for the Federal Civil Service Air Force before a 33-year career as a Surgical ICU, Trauma nurse at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
She was united in marriage to Richard D. Frey on August 8th, 1965. They had three children, Mike, Chuck and Kathy. They raised their family in St. Paul until they moved to Glenwood City in 1980 and established Frey’s “Funny Farm” . Her and Dick farmed 160 acers and raised Belted Galloway Beef Cattle, and she served as a Vice President of the Great Lakes Belted Galloway Association.
Pat was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She taught Religious Education, CCD, distributed Communion to the homebound, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and had received a Pax Christi Award.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick”; son Charles “Chuck”; and two brothers Paul and Bud Stephenson.
Survived by her children Michael Frey and Kathy (Andy) Blomberg; daughter-in-law Charlene Fregine; grandchildren Jessica (Ryan) Rugg, Heidi (James) Bengston, Brianna (Matt) Leirmo, Tony Frey, Nick Frey (Jacie Winberg), Rachel Frey, Andrew Blomberg, Samantha Frey, Nicole Blomberg, Ava Leirmo, Zach Leirmo, and Noah Leirmo.
Great-grandchildren Savannah Rugg, Easton Rugg, Haylie Yarnington, Willow Bengston, Laynie Frey, Hazel Bengston and Lyndie Frey.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9th at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, Wi 54002. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 10th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 757 1st. Street, Glenwood City WI 54013. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Emerald, WI followed by a reception at the church.
The family wishes to thank the Baldwin Cancer Center and Westfields Hospital for the care of Pat.
