Patricia “Pat” Nygaard, age 86 of Baldwin, WI, died peacefully on April 2, 2019, at the Birchwood Apartments in Baldwin.

Pat was born on January 28, 1933, in Elmwood, Wisconsin, the daughter of Everard and Verna (Nelson) Edwards. She attended Happy Valley School and Baldwin High School, graduating with the Class of 1950. On November 3, 1951, Pat was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Nygaard. This union was blessed with two wonderful children, Steven and Marsha. Pat spent 34 years working as a secretary for St. Croix Electric before retiring in 1995.

Pat was an active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, having taught Sunday School and serving on various boards. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Botany Belles and Beaus Garden Club. Pat had a real love for flowers and gardening. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and especially making baby quilts and blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat also took great delight in baking, cooking, and reading. Ken and Pat savored their time together by traveling and visiting numerous states and taking cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean Islands, and Europe.

Pat is survived by her children, Steven (Margene) Nygaard and Marsha (Mike) Nadeau; grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Nadeau, Jason (Sasha) Nygaard, Brad Nadeau, Jill (Kevin) Karnes, Ben (Laura) Nadeau, Jeremy (LeAnne) Nygaard, and Justin (Joelle) Nygaard; great-grandchildren, Maya Nadeau, Brenan Nadeau, Evan Nadeau, Ari Garcia, Owen Nygaard, Ethan Nadeau, Sean Nadeau, Gavin Karnes, Colton Karnes, Carter Nadeau, Greysen Nadeau, Ardyn Nadeau, Marin Nygaard, Cade Nygaard, Kyler Nygaard, Bram Nygaard, Brogan Nygaard, Hadley Nygaard, and Lenora Nygaard; great-great-grandchild, Myles Edwards; her sister, Audrey (Ivan) Iverson, as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, Everard and Verna Edwards; parents-in-law, Oscar and Hilda Nygaard; and brother/sister-in-law, Ole and Bette Nygaard.

A Memorial Service for Pat will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1350 Florence St., Baldwin, WI. A Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00PM on Monday, April 8, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, WI, as well as one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment will follow the service in the Baldwin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Gethsemane Lutheran Church or the American Legion Post 240.
