Perry Arthur Sutherland

Perry Arthur Sutherland, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on May 4, 1948, in Stillwater, MN to parents Kenneth and Marcella Sutherland. After high school graduation, Perry enlisted and served our country as a United States Marine from 1968-1972, serving a year in Vietnam.

Perry married Catherine Stone on January 22, 1977 in Cedar Rapids, IA. They moved back to his hometown of Somerset, WI, where they raised six children.

After his time in the service, Perry worked in management, and perfected his expertise. He managed a handful of hospitality places; bars, restaurants, and bowling alleys. He retired out of The River’s Edge Campground after 25 years.

Perry’s family was very important to him. He loved spending quality time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sunday family dinners would often be the highlight of the week when he got to play card games till the night’s end. Joy and laughter would fill a room when Perry’s unfiltered self would make witty remarks and jokes with those he loved and cherished.

Perry will be greatly missed by his wife Cathy; children Adam Sutherland, Ken (Mia) Sutherland, Scott (Jessica) Sutherland, Jeff Sutherland, Darin Sutherland, Ashley (Ethan) Bell; grandchildren Cathy, Taylor (Jacob), Karly, Tyler, Skyla, Teela, Kara, Noah (Makayla), Pacey, Mason, Jaxton, Peri, Charlie; great-grandchildren Wil, Finn, Zaria; sisters Tammy (Mike) Koenig, Tanya (Duncan) Brown; sister-in-law Janelle Sutherland; and many other family and friends.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Marcella Sutherland; sister Candice Anez; brother Bob Sutherland; and brother-in-law Stuart Brown

Cremation Services Entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.

  1. I’m so sorry
    I just found out
All the challenging times I went through at Rivers Edge and how Perry would walk in and his sense of humor and great advice made it okay. He was such a big support to both John and I. He made the campground a success.
The love you two shared was one envied.
I will always be thankful to you and Perry for the friendship you showed me.
    I’m so sorry Cathy
