Peter Freiburger, of Iron River, Wisconsin, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023.
Peter was born on September 4, 1944, to Arthur and Cecilia Freiburger in New London, Wisconsin. He graduated from New London high school, attended UW Oshkosh and graduated from Marquette University. He finally met and married the love of his life Eileen Vesbach on June 13, 1970. Together they raised two children, Stephen Freiburger and Laura Kotowski.
Peter achieved his lifelong dream of building a house in the Northwoods. His happiest days were spent fishing with good friend, Joe, and brother in law’s, Paul and Dan. It didn’t matter what kind of fishing it was, Peter just loved being on the water, ice or stream with his dog Stela by his side.
Peter was an avid sports fan, coaching his favorite Wisconsin sports teams from the sidelines. He also enjoyed supporting Steve and Laura in their various sports.
Survived by his wife, Eileen, son, Stephen (Madeline), daughter, Laura (Douglas). Grandchildren, Milo Freiburger, Catherine and Charlotte, Kotowski, sisters, Ruth Freiburger, Elaine (Paul) Gillis and Ann (Dan) Kuntz. He is further survived by nieces, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur, and Cecilia Freiburger, siblings, Mary Freiburger and Jean Freiburger.
The family appreciated the care given by Prescott Nursing and rehabilitation Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Peter will be at 11:00am on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church: 68105 S George St., Iron River, Wisconsin 54947. A Visitation will be start at 10:00am until the start of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trout, Unlimited, Wisconsin, Wild Rivers chapter, Ashland, Wisconsin or North Country Trails Association, Chequamegon chapter.

Eileen – I will never forget the days Marge and I spent with Pete snd yourself in Plum Borough, Pa. Thanks to both of you for being our friends. May Gid Bless you snd give you strength during this time. Love always Angie
