Peter Michael Post, age 68 of Hudson, WI, surrounded by his loving family was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on September 19, 2014. He died after an accidental fall at his home.

Peter was born July 15, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Marvin and Lucille (Becker) Post. Peter graduated from Burlington High School (1965) and then enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, earning a Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering. Peter was united in marriage on April 10, 1971 in Sioux Center, Iowa to the love of his life, Mary Lynn Schalekamp. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Brian and Diana.

Peter was a successful entrepreneur. He worked as a project engineering manager at 3M/ Imation for 23 years, retiring in 1999. He then became a property assessor, working throughout Western Wisconsin. In the last four years, Peter was successful as a Director with Melaleuca: The Wellness Company.

Peter and his family moved to Hudson in 1982. Over the years he enjoyed serving the community on the city council, planning commission, and police and fire commission. For many years he was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Most recently, he was a proud investor of LOLO American Kitchen and Craft Bar, a Stillwater restaurant opened this year by his son-in-law.

Peter’s favorite hobby was spending time with his family. He and Mary shared many travels together. He also enjoyed boating and fishing on the St. Croix River, biking, cheering for the Packers, and being the first to have the latest high-tech gadgets.

Peter will remain in the hearts of his loving and devoted wife, Mary; son, Brian (Valerie) Post of Minneapolis; daughter, Diana (Brad) Nordeen of West St. Paul; and his loving companion, his dog, Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lucille Post; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Lucille Schalekamp.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 4:00 -7:00 PM Thursday, September 25, 2014 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, as well as one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. A Memorial Service honoring Peter’s life will take place 11:00 AM Friday, September 26, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 14107 S. Hudson Rd., Afton, with Pastors Steve Kramer and Sonja Dixon officiating. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
